A coalition of 140+ organizations across Metro Vancouver

Transit and transportation issues affect us all

Business associations are concerned about the impact of gridlock on the local economy. Social service organizations understand that poor transit options disproportionately affect the most vulnerable in our society. Environmental organizations worry about the damages of unsustainable growth to the environment.

This is the first time in British Columbia’s history that we’ve all found common ground on this scale.

Who we are

The Better Transit and Transportation Coalition is a group of over 140 organizations in the Lower Mainland, including business, labour, non-profit, environment and student groups. See our full partner list below.

Our partners are united in the desire to improve the quality of life in our region and across BC. We know that improved transit and transportation across our region will benefit our environment AND our economy.

The challenges

Our region faces steep population growth, increasing congestion and all the health and environmental issues that come with it.

A credible transportation solution – a far-reaching plan to improve our region’s movability, environment, economy, health and quality of life – is within reach. And all three levels of government agree that action must be taken now.

But there's a funding gap for the Mayors' Council plan, and no current commitment for funding beyond the ten year plan.

Read more about what's going on in an op-ed from Coalition Chair Peter Ladner: Time to make a decision.

Our goal

The main objective of the Coalition is to ensure that the Mayors’ Council 10-year plan becomes a reality and that funding for the plan is both sustainable and fair.
